 What went on Where in a Monastery Here is a view of Reading Abbey as it looked in its heyday. All abbeys were laid out on a similar plan. They had a big wall round them with lots of different buildings inside. This area was called the 'enclave'. Click on the numbers for a description of each place and then guess what it was and what the monks did there.
